1. I don't always know how to respond to Grant. He didn't like the way I was playing with his blocks this morning so he stopped and told me, "Mommy, when you play with me you have to obey the rules. And you have to be nice because God wants us to be nice." What am I supposed to say to that? He catches me off-guard with this stuff.
2. I am worried I might fail the gestational diabetes test I took today. Not that I know of any correlation, but I am eating probably 1/4 of a watermelon a day and that has to be a lot of sugar...
3. I think its because Brad is at youth camp and the nights seem long, but for some reason I got nostalgic last night and made tapioca pudding. I wanted it to remind me of my grandmother. It didn't turn out like hers. I don't know if that was because I made it with raw goat milk, or because I put in the vanilla too soon, or if its just because tapioca is actually a pretty strange thing. I actually have no idea what tapioca really is??...
4. I looked back at my new years resolutions and I haven't made good on very many of them. Particularly the reading goal. Part of this was due to way too many good tv shows during the spring...However, I am 3 chapters into 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett (thanks to the diabetes test) and it is SO good!
5. I was drug to see Eclipse. It was my first real introduction into the Twilight phenomenon and now I have another reason to be worried about what its going to be like to raise a girl because I just don't get it.
6. Had a plumber here for 4 hours today. He said our plumbing looks like it was done by someone who didn't know what they were doing over a weekend with whatever materials were on hand at the moment. I often feel bad that Brad and I aren't DIY people. But today was proof that it's overrated sometimes. And as a side note, our plumber lived up to every stereotype of a plumber, which was both offensive and a tiny bit amusing at the same time.
7. I am 27 weeks pregnant. In 2 weeks I will be in last trimester. When I look at the calendar I break out in a cold sweat. Time is going by too fast. I am excited to have her, but I'm not ready yet. I need time to plan, to nest, to rest, to savor just Grant, to get up the courage to go through labor and delivery again. I was on autopilot for so long at the beginning of this pregnancy and so I'm beginning to feel a little behind in my processing of all of it.
8. Received an unspeakably sad prayer request from church today that is haunting me. Reminding me of how delicate life is, how little control we all have. Reminding me to live every day.
